Creating is a weird phenomenon. We often do it for ourselves but often have the overwhelming urge to share it with others. I have felt this urge. As I said in my last post, “To be used by God in even the smallest capacity is a great privilege and honor. If my writing can be a service to just one person a week I will find that rewarding and worth getting up at 5 am every Wednesday.” I pray that this is my focus and not likes, follows, and viral content.
I have moved the blog to Substack from Wordpress. This just means that for those that subscribe they will now need to make sure they are subscribed to growupblog.substack.com. I hope that this new landing spot will make it easier for me to share my content to a wider audience while also building a community of people desiring to mature in their Christian faith.
I share the sentiment of blogger Kathy Sierra who says, “Make people better at something they want to be better at.” I know that many of my readers want to be better at discipleship to Jesus and desire to see real, substantial change in their life. I believe that Substack can help us grow in this journey. My Substack will be completely free.
Substack is where you will find my weekly posts and maybe an occasional link heavy, digest post. In addition to Substack, I will be posting smaller, more regular posts at scottjeffries.micro.blog. Microblog is an independent social media outlet that has a healthy user track record and distribution and is easy to write and publish on. Look here for the Paul Verse of the Day Reading Plan and commentary, what I am reading, and short podcasts featuring my latest thoughts on recent Substack posts.
I am extremely excited for these changes because it allows me additional and varied creative outlets, more ways to interact with people, and brings my blog activity into this decade.
But more than anything, I want this to be God’s blog. I desire for lives to be changed through the transforming power of Christ and believe that God has given me some skill and an outlet to help people experience the Grown Up Christian life they have always longed for.
